"From the past to the future: What is creation all about?"
Lidewij Edelkoort, Peaches, Gordon Wagener and Mario Lombardo challenged 32 artists to draw their picture of a futuristic city.
We’ve seen beautiful, stunning and well thought works in the categories of photography, design, textile and food. Each of these categories brought up two winning participants, that take part in the “Future of the City Award”.
During the voting process we would like to take the opportunity and introduce the finalists, their work and their motivation for being creative.
we sing really loud when we drive our cars
Why are you creating what you are creating?
Because we believe cities are too grey nowadays, because it is really fun to get out of our routines, because we believe crafts can make the world a better place: knitting and crocheting instead of fighting!
Where will you live in 5 years?
Wherever we live it will be full of yarn! But probably in a greener and happier place.
What will your city of the future look like?
It will look like a canvas where all the cities dreamed by its inhabitants take place. Cities will be soft, colourful, fun…
How do you like to move around in your city?
We like to feel the air on our cheeks and to enjoy the sunlight: we walk, we bike, we skate, we run, we jump, we use public transportation and we sing really loud when we drive our cars!
What would be your question for the city of the future?
Our question would be: “How can we bring nature into the city of the future?”
